Walking Day Two

Today I got paid to walk. I walked to the post office to mail off claims. This took me 30 minutes. I took Cisco with me. He loves to walk. The last day of 2007 ended up being such a beautiful day. The sky was clear and the ocean deep blue. This made for a pleasureful walk.

The book I mentioned before is actually titled " The Complete Guide to Walking". I think that I was suppose to measure myself before I started. I'll have to read chapter one again. There is really a lot more to this book than just walking. I am going to keep track of my progress for 52 weeks. This should be interesting. So, for today I walked 30 minutes, medium pace.

Wishing all a very happy New Year!

Walking Day One

Today is the first day that I started a walking routine. For Christmas I received a book called Walking, written by Mark Fenton. This is not a New Year's resolution. I have never been able to keep one. I have gained so much weight lately and for some reason it has not been easy to lose. I have always been fortunate enough to be able to keep weight off, but now weight just stays. I think it is an age thing, whatever. The thing is I don't know how to diet. I have always been a person that went to the gym reguarly and have been able to keep toned. I did not renew my membership earlier in the year because I could not stand the gym's GM, not to mention that the gym was just turning to shit. I thought no problem, I have a gym setup in my garage, yeah right, the so called gym is now a clothes hanger for the boyfriends clothes and anything else he can manage to put on it. This by the way, this has pissed me off a lot, but that is another story. So all I have to do is walk six days a week. Seems easy enough, so I'm giving it a try. Today I walked for 45 minutes at a medium pace.

As for knitting, I started an easy lace scarf. I love the pattern. I found the pattern on Ravelry. I have all this yarn that I got from a thrift store. Most of the yarn was acrylic, there was some cotton yarn and some nice wool yarn. Since I am still new to knitting I like to use the thrift store yarn to practice, practice, practice. I had some Lion Brand Jiffy Mohair yarn and wanted to do something with it, so I went to Ravelry and entered the yarn and searched for a pattern. What a cool way to get rid of yarn and at the same time I'm learning new things. Yea for Ravelry!

Happy Holidays 2007

Same tree different year.

I'm sorry, its just that I have not been able to get into the holidays. It's been weird. It's like I'm just going through the motions. I have all of my gift shopping done although they have not been wrapped.

I have been fighting a really bad cold. My head hurts from all the sinus pressure. I feel like crap. I got this from the boyfriend. Good thing is, that I work from home so I could get away with looking and feeling like crap and still get work done. Now is the start of the weekend and I don't have to work until the day after Christmas. So on the couch for now.

I leave you with Celebration Barbie 2007.

Happy Birthday Cisco

Today Cisco is a year old.

This little dog has brought me so much joy. Not a day goes by that he has not made me laugh. My boyfriend is a little jealous of Cisco, he says that since I got Cisco I don't give him enough attention. Well, try making me laugh. Oh, I know that was mean.

Anyways, I look forward to all the years of joy he will bring, not just in my life but in others as well. Look how cute he is!

It's a Dirty Job But Someones Got To Do It

Mike Rowe is hot! I love Dirty Jobs. Last night the dirty job was on an Alpaca Farm and the dirty job was shearing, but Mike also did a little spinning. Total turn on for me. I'm having dirty thoughts about Mike and the dirty job he can do for me. I think I'll just keep that to myself.

It's Gettin Hot in Here So.........

Man was it HOT yesterday! Pismo Beach was baking, so Chris and I decided to take a drive to Cambria. The weather there was perfect. We went to Moonstone Gardens to check out the succulent and cacti garden. What a treat that was. Very relaxing. We came home with a few succulents.

These were added to the ever growing garden of our own

The drive back home was so beautiful, and then we arrived home to an oven. I can't remember the last time it was so hot here. When we walked into the kitchen we found these. Look what the elves left us.
Here is another picture to show size. The elf turned out to be my youngest daughter.
Oh and did I say it was HOT,
Well, okay this may not seem hot to some people, but note the time and and look at how the temperature keeps going up.
It's getting hot in here so take all off your clothes. Yesterday was great and today is Labor Day. Right on!

Hey Cisco

Here is our new little Chihuahua puppy. His name is Cisco. He has been with us for a week. I really had no intention of getting a puppy it just happened. Chris and I were on a walk to the beach and we try to take different routes so it doesn't seem so routine. Well we were waiting for the light to change when Chris says " did you want to go by the pet store?" I thought for a second and then I said " sure why not ". I've been in the store more than a few time just to see the cute puppies then I leave, just like that. Not this time. Some little puppy caught my eye. I watched him play and then I was hooked. I asked to hold him. It was then that I thought to myself I really want him. Because I was on a walk I did not have my wallet. I ask if they would hold him and she says we close in 20 minutes. Chris seeing the look in my eyes says I'll run home. Really!? We were not close to home but he ran and with the truck he was back in 15, got to love a man that will do that just so you can have a puppy. Now here's the thing I'm a frugle person but I did not even for a second think of the cost of this puppy. I did not even remember what the total was until the next day when I looked at the reciept. It did not matter I have Cisco and I love him.

I Miss Haley

Haley was or is my dog. I have not been able to find her. She ran away from home over a week ago. She was not wearing a collar. She was old and did not go out, so I took her collar off because the tags made a lot of noise.

The day started just fine. I was working and it was pretty quite. I work from home. Well there was a knock at the door. I don't usually answer the door during the week beacuse I am working. My daughters call first if they need to come over. Well the person kept knocking and ringing the door bell, it sounded important so I got up to answer the door, first I peeked out of the window and that is when I saw the sprinklers on. At that moment I knew that whomever was knocking was trying to tell me about the sprinklers. They had been on for over four hours. I opened the door and there was no one there, so I ran to the garage to shut them off and then I heard someone on the side of the house. The man down the street was shutting off the water. I told him I had no idea the they were on and I thanked him. Then I went back in the house and into my office to work. Some time went by, then I started to get really cold, really cold. I went to check to see if the door from the house to the garage was open and no, it was closed. So then I looked down at the spot that Haley usually lays down on and she was not there. I'm thinking god I hope she did not pee on the carpet and is now hiding. I started to go to her hiding spot and that is when I was the front door, it was wide open I had not closed it after I answered it. I ran to the garage thinking maybe she did not come in, she was not there so I ran to back again not there. That is when I knew that she went out the front door. I jumped in my car and drove to the places she use to run away to. No luck. I called my boyfriend because I did not know what to do. He said that he would leave work right then and come home to help find her. I had to go back to work. Some people don't understand how imporant a pet is. Well he had no luck either. So I went to the shelter the next day and filled out a form for lost pets, I call the shelter everday for the recorded updates, I went to the shelter to see if maybe she was there, I put up signs. Nothing. Oh and to the nasty person who took down the sign in front of my house, SCREW YOU! So as of today I have not found her and I am really sad.

I love and miss you Haley

Happy New Year 2007

This year I am going to try to take a picture a day for 365 days. This is call The Project 365. I got the idea from Crazy Aunt Purl. All my pictures will be listed on the side bar in Flickr. I think this will force me to get out of the house. You see, I work from home and after ten hours of working I don't really get out. This project will force me to get out more and explore. My pictures may be boring, but that's okay this may be an eye opener for me. I may discover something about myself. Hopefullly it will not be how boring I am. Yikes! I have posted my first picture today and am looking forward to the rest of year.

Oh Christmas Tree Oh Christmas Tree....

....how steadfast are your branches.

Yeah, for a fake tree. After all the years of going to the tree farm and cutting a tree I decided I wanted a fake tree. Oh and it's prelit! That is the best part. No more getting dizzy going round and round with a string of lights. No more clean up. No more spiders even after the tree had been sprayed down with water. Now if they could just make them pre decorated. Well maybe not. I really do like my ornaments. I have some that are very special to me. I have a box from the 60s that are really cool and are my favorites. I started collecting Barbie ornaments for my youngest daughter thinking that maybe she would some day use them to decorate her own tree. Did not happen, keep in mind that the collection was her idea. Now I feel like I have to buy a new Barbie ornament every year. If I keep this up I will one year have a full on Barbie tree.

By the way her tree is decorated with red, green, and gold balls. She said something about reggae.

Surfs up Saturday

Today the waves were BIG. The swells were 15 feet. It was cold and windy, but that did not stop the many people from going out onto the pier. The scary thing was that every time a wave would break, the pier would shake. Still we were all out there to view the beauty of the ocean. I do love the rain.

Here is my Saturday sky.

It's about time

After ten years I bought living room furniture!

When we first moved into our house my husband had to go on workers comp. He died after five years on work comp. He passed away five years ago, so that makes ten years. The kick in the butt is because my youngest daughter asked if her boyfriend's family could spend Thanksgiving at our house. My first thought was how embarrassing, the living room is empty. The dining room is in the same space so we would have been looking at a cold empty room. So I thought now is the time. It was not an easy task for me. The space is a lot smaller than it looked. There was no way I would have been able to put a full size couch, so I got a love seat and a chair and a half with an ottoman. My daughter helped pick it out because I have absolutely no taste. I need to jazz it up with some lamps an end table, window treatments, some art on the walls, and all will be good. Oh by the way I have a family room that is fully furnished, that is where we spend all our time.

August Mid Month Day #1

Well I joined my first KAL. This is a monthly dishcloth KAL. On the first of the month you get about seven lines of a pattern a day for seven days. This dishcloth is usually a theme. The 16th day is the start of the mid month KAL and this is usually knitted using some type of variegated yarn.

Here is day #1 if the August mid month.

I feel like I could have done better. This is the first time I knitted with two colors. Also, had I known better I would have used a bolder Variegated yarn. This is a lot of fun though. Just think of all the dishcloths that are to be knitted. I can't wait.
